Get your shorts & sun-screen ready, because the 2007 Family Beach Bash is coming soon to a beach near you.
Date: TBD. Preferably a nice hot Saturday.
Time: Start around 11:30 am and extending into the evening.
Activities: Boogie Boarding, Football, Bonfire, Relax, Picnic/BBQ.
Location: Poplar Beach, Half Moon Bay
It's a pretty clean beach with good waves for boarding. There are also restroom & coin-operated HOT showers just 1/2 mile north, at Francis Beach. John, Ruby, and I went there last year, and it's a great beach. The boogie boarding was a lot of fun. It's actually quite shallow for like 50 feet out. The beach umbrellas really helped. We were able to relax under them without getting dark or sunburned. It was very relaxing.
I was thinking we can do a potluck style picnic/BBQ, along with side activities: boogie boarding, swimming, football, frisbee, sun-tanning, relaxing under the umbrella or canopy, and bonfire later in the day. Tell me what you guys think about all this!
Some items to consider:
Food, Drinks, Small Grill
Chairs, Beach Umbrellas, Canopy, Radio
Beach Towels, Swim clothes, Dry Clothes
Wet Suit (really helps keep you warm in the water)
Football, Frisbee, Boogie Boards
Wood for bonfire
Add more stuff as you see fit.

SOunds kind of cool.. I'll only come out on a hot day because i hate cold beaches.. id rather do saturday so i have sunday to recuperate...
is the water blue and is the sand white? just playing i might be down if i am not working
I guess, it's just Me, Harmeet, Manny, and Seema. Looks like no one else is interested? I thought it would get a lot of response, but I guess it's not as cool of an event as I thought it would be... Should I just cancel it?

I am down... but it depends when we go. I cant go if its the weekend before finals. but I am definitely interested.
Assuming that it's hot enough, how is June 23 or June 30 for everyone?
On the "drinks" question, you need not worry... However, we'll probably be using the "BYOB" system.

i was down for the idea but i won't be there those weekends. cuz i'm going to ireland! YAY! i'm leaving june 16th and i'll be back july 8th. holler!
We'll see what happens... we'll postpone it if the weather doesn't cooperate.
I forgot about volley-ball or "cheddi-ballah". I have a volleyball. Does anyone have a net?
Seema mentioned that it might be fun to fly kites since there's a lot of wind there.
Also, I picked up a portable picnic table with 4 chairs. It has room for 2 more chairs... only $35 at Big5. I'm also picking up a 10x10 canopy to keep us in the shade. Please start listing the stuff can bring so we can plan accordingly.
I also have 3 lawn chairs and 1 boogie board.
You can rent my boogie board for $10/day... or you can buy one from Costco for $30. I think we'll need at least 4 boogie boards. John also has one. So we'll need at least 2 more.
I think we should pre-cook the food at home, and just re-heat it on the small grill when we get there... if we try to cook it there, it'll take too long. I have a small 12" round grill.

Shovels
More chairs
Music
V-ball net
Coolers
Food
Drinks
Any other suggestions, people?
The weather is not cooperating... It's going to be cold this weekend June 23/24 as well as next weekend. As of now, the 1st weekend of July looks promising. I'll continue to monitor the weather and keep y'all updated.

Mandeep, will you be back in the morning of the 8th or evening, cause I'm thinking about doing it on the 8th. Let me know.
i'll be back in the evening of the 8th but don't hold back on account of me. have fun i'll be exhausted anyways.
Manny and Harpreet won't be here either. And a few others don't want to do a Sunday. So, I think we'll just wait until the following weekend. I'll monitor the weather for Saturday, July 14.
