So this weekend me, Randeep and Harmeet saw The Namesake.
This movie is based on the book with the same title. I haven't read the book but after watching this movie I definately want to read it. The movie is starring Kal Penn, Tabu, and some other actors that I don't know. It starts with a Bengali couple that has an arranged marriage in India and then they live in the United States. They have two children who are born here and then it focuses on mainly the son growing up. He has a couple of love interests, including a white woman. The movie is heart-warming, emotional, but a funny at parts as well. I don't want to give too many details because it might ruin the movie. But its a great movie and afterwards you will definately want to call up your parents and say I LOVE YOU! the only thing that kind of annonyed me was Kal Penn's acting. I think they could have found a better person to do the acting because he wasn't that convincing in the emotional parts. However, the parents were excellent!
and if you watch it at the theatre, you will want to listen to all the conversations of the various people who just watched it. after we saw it we were listening to a few of interracial couples (indian man/white woman) talk about the movie-- and they said some interesting things.
everyone else who saw it-- how was your opinion of it?
